Hydrangea Sky Movement Arts to Premiere ‘Luminescent’ at Old Town Center for the Arts
Old Town Center for the Arts welcomes audiences to historic Old Town Cottonwood for the premiere of Hydrangea Sky Movement Arts’ “Luminescent.” High flying feats and mesmerizing movement arts will be on display for three showings: Friday, November 21, at 7:00 PM and Saturday, November 22, at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
From the vast depths of the ocean floor to the glimmer of moonlight on its surface, audiences will be transported through earth’s hydrosphere as “Luminescent” explores the life force that nourishes all beings: Water. Each original character represents an ocean creature or natural element, their stories told through aerial dance (silks, sling, lyra, rope, multicorde, chains, pole), LED flow arts, martial arts, modern dance, a visual art exhibit and live original music.
The visual art exhibition by featured artist Armando Kiyama and guest artists Mazzy Rose and Marie Turner begins one hour prior to each showtime. Original artwork, signed cast posters and art prints, and concessions will be available for purchase at intermission. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase ($20 per ticket) for one original signed painting by Armando Kiyama, with 100% of raffle proceeds directly supporting Hydrangea Sky Movement Arts, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The winner will be contacted after the Saturday evening performance.
All-star musicians William Eaton, Allen Ames, and Logan Turner will accompany the movement arts unfurling on and high above the stage. William Eaton is a GRAMMY-nominated harp guitarist and luthier, co-founder and current director of Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery, and co-founder/co-director of Old Town Center for the Arts. Allen Ames, esteemed multi-instrumentalist playing in various musical groups, is versed in everything from classical to jazz, flamenco and multi-cultural improvisational music. Logan Turner is a classically trained percussionist, multi-instrumentalist and graduate of the Crane School of Music, specializing in world percussion.
Due to mature themes, this performance is not recommended for children under 13. The performance will be accompanied by loud music and flashing lights. We invite you to turn off your cell phones as you enjoy live, human-made visual storytelling and immerse yourself in each magical and fleeting moment. No recordings (photos, video or audio) will be permitted; the show will be professionally photographed and recorded for later viewing on YouTube.
