Hydrangea Sky Movement Arts

We are a professional multi-disciplinary dance and movement company exploring the space from floor to air through dance, acrobatics, martial arts, flow arts, and aerial arts based out of Northern Arizona (primarily Cottonwood, Sedona, Flagstaff), specializing in performing to live original music. Our "home" performance venue is Old Town Center for the Arts; Hydrangea Sky Movement Arts is the resident dance company of Old Town Center for the Arts.

We incorporate several genres of movement arts from floor to air in our repertoire, including modern and contemporary dance, ballet, belly dance, flow arts (poi, fire spinning, dragon staff, fans, more), acrobatics and gymnastic movement, juggling, Cyr Wheel, martial arts (Shaolin Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Bagua), invented apparatus and props, and aerial dance [silks (fabric), lyra (hoop), sling, corde lisse (rope), trapeze, aerial straps, aerial chains, cube, aerial pole, stage pole, harness, multicorde, and more].

We explore interdisciplinary movement pathways and seek to connect these diverse genres through unique transitions and collaborations. Each artist in the company studies multiple dance and movement disciplines and possesses a dynamic, versatile range. Our artists conceptualize, create, and choreograph their own original performance works for each of our original productions, including solos and ensemble acts which incorporate various styles and choreographic influences. Hydrangea Sky Movement Arts typically performs one full-length all-original show per year at their home venue Old Town Center for the Arts, in addition to performing regularly at events, festivals, concerts, and art galleries. Founded in December 2021 by Marie Turner, the company is based out of the Verde Valley and Flagstaff areas in Northern Arizona. Read more about the Team behind HSMA here.

Hydrangea Sky Movement Arts specializes in performing alongside live musicians playing original music, much of which composed specifically for our productions. While various musical ensembles and individuals collaborate to present Hydrangea Sky's live performances, the core (repeat) members include Logan Turner (Musical Director), Marie Turner, and William Eaton.
